An Academic Contribution from IGU to the Meeting of Gastronomy and Cinema


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) FEASS Vice Dean Asst. Prof. Özlem Tuğçe Keleş is serving as coordinator for the Gaziantep Gastronomy Short Film Festival (Gastroff 2026). IGU’s academic expertise and its support for cultural projects are once again making their mark on this important event.


Gaziantep's Culinary Richness Told Through the Language of Cinema

 
The festival aims to bring together Gaziantep's rich culinary culture and the universal language of cinema, contributing to the promotion of local values on the international stage. The theme for 2026 has been set as “Antep Cheese” (Antep Peyniri), approaching gastronomy not merely as a matter of flavor but as an important part of cultural identity.
 
The competition held as part of the festival is open to both professional and amateur participants across the short film, documentary, and experimental categories. A jury of experts in their respective fields will evaluate original works at the intersection of gastronomy and cinema.
