IGU Crowned Its Achievements at TEKNOFEST 2025 with a Certificate Presentation Ceremony

The 2025 edition of the “World’s Most Influential Scientists” list, which ranks over 200,000 scientists in the top 2% worldwide based on the impact of citations to their publications, has been published in the Elsevier database. The list was compiled by a research team led by Stanford University. Published in two categories—“Career-Long Impact” and “Annual Impact (2024 Studies)”—the list includes four academics from Istanbul Gelisim University in the “Career-Long Impact” category and one academic in the “Annual Impact” category.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) has added a new international achievement to its scientific progress. Asst. Prof. Bahadır Kopçasız, faculty member of the Department of Basic Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, was honored with the "Best Researcher Award" at both the Global Particle Physics Excellence Awards 2025 and the Math Scientist Awards 2025, where distinguished researchers from around the world are nominated.

A certificate presentation ceremony was held at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) for the project and invention owners who received awards at the International Invention Fair (ISIF) and the TEKNOFEST Aviation Ideathon competitions, held between September 17–21, 2025, as part of TEKNOFEST 2025. At the ceremony held at the Rectorate, the awards were presented by IGU Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin. Vice Rectors Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı and Prof. Nuri Kuruoğlu, as well as TTO Director Yahya Kemal Kıran, also attended the ceremony.

A second chance is opening up for candidates dreaming of a university education. Based on the results of the 2025-YKS, the additional placement preference period will begin on September 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM and will end on September 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM. During this time, candidates will have the opportunity to submit their preferences through ÖSYM's official system and take a step toward the university of their dreams.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts has achieved a first at the university level in Turkey. The "Skills of the Future" course was added to the curriculum for the first time in the 2025–2026 academic year and offered as an elective. The course has been made available to all students across the faculty.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) successfully completed the audit process conducted by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) between July 28–30, 2025, and earned the renewal of its ISO 10002 Student and Stakeholder Satisfaction Management System Certificate. Lecturer Enes Kalyoncu, Vice Dean of the IGU Student Dean’s Office, emphasized that this development reflects the university’s transparent, systematic, and continuously improving approach to satisfaction management.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) participated in TEKNOFEST 2025, the world’s largest and Turkey’s first and only aviation, space, and technology festival, with its innovative projects in science and technology. Held between September 17–21 at Ataturk Airport, the festival brought together students, academics, and technology enthusiasts. With over 1 million visitors, the projects aimed at contributing to the national technology initiative attracted significant attention.

The additional placement period, the second phase of the university placement process, is not just a time to consider unfilled quotas, but also an opportunity to redefine one's direction for the future. This period allows candidates who either didn’t make any choices during the main placement phase or who were not placed in any university program, to make new preferences. Experts emphasize that the additional placement period is not only an academic process but also has a significant psychological aspect. Diyarbakır is preparing to host a major international event in the field of cinema and media between September 3–5, 2025, organized in collaboration with Istanbul Gelisim University and Dicle University. The first-ever SineAkademi International Cinema and Media Studies Congress (SineMed), hosted by Dicle University and academically supported by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), and with the backing of numerous institutions, aims to bring together culture, art, and academia in Diyarbakır. Held at Dicle University’s 15 July Congress and Culture Center, the congress is set to create a cultural breeze in the city with a wide-ranging program that includes academic presentations, film screenings, director talks, and workshops.
