IGU Faculty Member Esat Daşdemir will organize TUBITAK-supported training!

BISTLAB Finance Laboratory, which was implemented in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (İİSBF) and Borsa İstanbul INC., was opened with an official ceremony held at IGU. At the opening, while academicians, sector representatives and students come together, it is aimed that the laboratory will prepare the ground for innovative projects in the field of financial technologies and increase its applied education capacity. At the opening, IGU Rector Prof. Bahri ŞAHİN, İİSBF Dean Prof. Kenan Aydın, representatives of Borsa İstanbul INC. also took part.

The Tourism Guidance Department of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University hosted an important event that strengthened its sectoral bonds. Selçuk Eracun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Chamber of Tourist Guides (IRO), came together with the students in an interview held at the Aziz Sancar Conference Hall and presented a comprehensive evaluation of the guidance profession. After the event, IRO President and IGU Secretary General and Gastronomy Departments Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli and Asst. Prof. Ramazan İnan discussed Turkish Cuisine studies.

Under the leadership of the Disaster and Emergency Coordination Office, Istanbul Gelisim University hosted the "Disaster Awareness Training for Individuals and Families", which aims to increase individual and social awareness against disasters. The event, which took place in the Tusi Conference Hall, was organized as a wide participation program covering both academic and administrative staff and students.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), which stands out with its innovative programs in higher education and suitable for the needs of the age, received positive results from its associate degree program opening applications for 2025. At the same time, important steps have been taken to increase the quality of education with unit updates made in some existing programs. In this direction, two new programs were opened within the Vocational School of Health Services, while three existing programs were restructured in different Vocational Schools.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Health Sciences Audiology, Health Management, Orthotic Prosthesis and Nutrition and Dietetics Departments held an event called "19 May Commemoration of Atatürk Youth and Sports Day and Audiology Department White Coat Wearing Ceremony" on 16 May 2025. The event, where Asst. Prof. A. Yüksel Barut was the speaker, attracted great attention of students, families, lecturers and participants.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) continues to strengthen its sectoral ties by closely following the developments in the field of gastronomy and industrial culinary technologies. In this context, on the first day of the "HOSTECH by TUSİD – Hotel, Restaurant, Cafe, Patisserie Equipment and Technologies Fair" held at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center between 27-31 May 2025, IGU Gastronomy Departments Coordinator and Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli and IGU Lecturer İbrahim Levent Demirçakmak participated.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) hosted the 3rd Festival of Applied Communication which deals with the effects of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of communication in a multifaceted way. The two-day festival, organized in collaboration with the departments of Television Journalism and Programming, Public Relations and Advertising, and New Media and Communication of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, brought together media professionals, academicians, students, and industry representatives. The festival examined the transformations created by artificial intelligence in the field of communication with both theoretical and practical dimensions.

The projects of undergraduate students in science, mathematics and related fields, which were supported and completed or ongoing within the scope of TUBITAK 2209-A and 2209-A University Students Research Projects, met with the scientific world in the workshop organized for the second time. Istanbul Gelisim University students achieved great success at the 2209 A/B Science and Mathematics Student Projects Workshop hosted by Yıldız Technical University.

As the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) approaches, the stress, loss of motivation and preference uncertainties experienced by students increase. Istanbul Gelisim University continues to support students in this critical process. In an exclusive interview with psychologist Nizam Aydın, the topics that students are most curious about are discussed, from exam anxiety to preference strategies, from family pressure to panic situations that may occur on the morning of the exam.

The directors of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and Technology Development Center (TEKMER) of the universities in Istanbul met for the seventh time. Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) TTO also participated in the meeting hosted by BTM TEKMER Fulya. The main purpose of the meeting was determined as to strengthen cooperation between university TTOs and to prepare the ground for the development of joint projects. Participants agreed that knowledge and experience sharing should be systematized and common platforms should be established.
