
The event titled “A Career Journey in Physiotherapy”, organized by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), brought together expert figures in the field with students. The program, which took place with the participation of Turkish Physiotherapists Association Board of Directors Chair Physiotherapist Zafer Aksungur and Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Member of Parliament for Nevşehir Emre Çalışkan, offered a multifaceted examination of the current state of the physiotherapy profession, areas of development, and future opportunities.
The “2025 Türkiye Patent Report”, prepared by Patent Effect, has been published. Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) has won the title of “Patent Commercialization Champion University” for 2025, standing out not only for its patent output but also for its ability to convert those patents into economic value. Ranking at the top in both the “Number of Commercialization Agreements” and “Number of Licensed/Transferred Patents” categories, IGU has led Türkiye not only in the production of innovation but also in the process of transforming it into added value. This achievement drew attention for its systematic approach to connecting research outputs with industry and for the effective management of intellectual property processes.
Istanbul Gelisim University continues to guide prospective students preparing for the university application process through online introduction and counseling services offered via digital platforms. These sessions, conducted by Counseling and Promotion Specialists from the Directorate of Public Relations and Promotion, help students manage the exam process more consciously and make informed university choices.
Istanbul Gelisim University Men’s Futsal Team, competing in the futsal tournament held across Istanbul, faced MEF University in the quarterfinal. In a match that was intensely contested from start to finish, IGU defeated their opponents 6-5 to secure a place in the semifinals.
Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) came together with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU), its Erasmus+ Consortium partner since 2019, within the framework of their ongoing collaboration. On April 8, 2026, the AYBU delegation carried out a comprehensive visit to IGU as part of the relevant project. The visit was regarded as an important step toward deepening the academic and institutional partnership between the two well-established institutions.
A cinematic drone workshop was held at Küçükçekmece Alaaddin Yavaşça Fine Arts High School with the contribution of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA). Led by Istanbul Gelisim University Lecturer and director Ahmet Bikiç, the workshop provided students with hands-on instruction in drone imaging techniques.
The Department of Public Relations and Promotion at the Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences (FEASS) organized an environmental cleanup event called “Meeting for Nature” (Doğa İçin Buluşuyoruz) to draw attention to environmental pollution and raise ecological awareness. The event was launched under the call “Together at Aydos Forest to Breathe Life into Green.”
Representatives of the Marmara and Central Anatolia Industry and Business World Federation (MARSİFED) and the Association of All Women Engineers (TÜMKAD) came together with university management at a meeting held at Istanbul Gelisim University. The meeting was attended by Istanbul Gelisim University Board of Trustees Member Betül Gayretli, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan, TÜMKAD Board of Directors Chair Ülfet Öztürk, Board Vice Chair Elif Kuş, MARSİFED Board of Directors Secretary General Özge Özen, and Gökkuşağı Kolejleri General Manager Mesut Döner. The meeting addressed potential areas of collaboration between the university and the relevant institutions, particularly in engineering fields. Ideas were exchanged on more effectively aligning educational processes with the needs of the industry.
The second Istanbul Gelisim University Model United Nations Conference (IGUMUN 2026) was held. Through the United Nations simulation, students debated global issues among themselves and developed their diplomatic skills. At the event, which took place at Istanbul Gelisim University on May 2-3, students acted as United Nations delegates and examined global challenges in four different committees. In addition to IGU students, participants from Gökkuşağı Koleji, Süleyman Nazif Anadolu High School, Avcılar Anadolu High School, Büyükçekmece Anadolu High School, Beşiktaş Anadolu High School, and Şehit Batuhan Ergin Anadolu High School took part in the MUN. After two days of sessions, certificates of appreciation were distributed to students at the closing ceremony. The event concluded with a musical performance by students.
Istanbul Gelisim University continues to strengthen its academic partnerships in line with its internationalization vision. As part of this effort, a delegation from the University of Management and Future Technologies (UMFT), operating in Uzbekistan, visited the university. The meeting brought together IGU Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin and Vice Rectors Prof. Necmettin Maraşlı and Prof. Nuri Kuruoğlu from Istanbul Gelisim University, and from UMFT, Rector Assoc. Prof. Muhammadismoil Mahmudov along with Vice Rectors Prof. Asror Muhamedov, Dr. Bahadır Musametov, and Dr. Bahtiyor Nosirov. Following the meeting, a bilateral cooperation agreement was signed between Istanbul Gelisim University and UMFT. The agreement is intended to contribute to the development of joint work in academic, scientific, and cultural domains.
