International Paper Presentation İn Tirana from Istanbul Gelisim University Academicians


Academics from many countries' central banks and leading universities participated in the international conference titled “Central Banks and Economic History: Thoughts and Perspectives” held in Tirana as part of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Central Bank of Albania. In the event, which witnessed extensive discussions on the history of economics and central banking, Turkey was represented by Assoc. Prof. Hakan Yıldırım and Asst. Prof. Murat Topcu.


Assoc. Prof. Hakan Yıldırım's Presentation on the First Bubble of Financial History

One of the faculty members of Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Hakan Yıldırım presented the paper titled “Dutch East India Company Stock Prices: The First Speculative Bubble in Financial History?”. In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Yıldırım discussed the first speculative bubble, which is considered one of the turning points in terms of financial history, and made important evaluations on investment behaviors, market dynamics and economic vulnerabilities in the historical context.


 

Analysis of Foreign Exchange Policies by Asst. Prof. Murat Topcu

In the same session, one of the IGU faculty members,  Asst. Prof. Murat Topcu shared his work titled "Can Uncertainty Indices be Used in Albania USDALL Exchange Rate Parity Adjustment?". Asst. Prof. Topcu evaluated the role of uncertainty indices in exchange rate adjustments through the example of Albania and presented findings on how these indicators can be used as a foresight tool in economic policies.


 

International Cooperation and Academic Sharing Platform

The conference presented a multidimensional platform where the historical evolution of central banks, the effects of global economic variables on central banking, and current approaches to foreign exchange policies were discussed. The contributions of Istanbul Gelisim University faculty members to the event were also welcomed with interest in international academic circles.
