Strong Interest in IGU’s Scientific Journals: Download Numbers Surpass 1 Million!

As part of the United Nations' declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Cooperatives," a workshop held at Istanbul Gelisim University shed light on the future of women's cooperatives, social cooperatives, and new-generation cooperatives. The event, organized in two sessions, presented solution proposals under nine main topics, ranging from legal regulations to digital transformation, from campus cooperatives to women's labor. In the conclusion of the report, a strong call was made for cooperation among the public sector, private sector, academia, and civil society to drive transformation in the cooperative movement.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) has expanded its graduate education options for the 2025–2026 academic year by launching new master's programs in Cyber Security and Computational Sciences. Covering a wide range from digital security to artificial intelligence, and from data analytics to big data, these programs further strengthen IGU’s technology-focused academic vision.

Istanbul Gelisim University, the university with the most accreditations in Türkiye, has provided ABET accreditation training to four professors from Northern Technical University, which recently joined its network of partner institutions. By adding another international collaboration to its portfolio, Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) hosted a significant educational program. Four professors from Northern Technical University received comprehensive training on the ABET accreditation process in the field of Civil Engineering. Thanks to IGU's extensive experience in accreditation, the university not only maintains its status as an accredited institution but also highlights its role as a knowledge-sharing and guiding body in this field.

The “Elderly Workshop” organized by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services was held on August 27, 2025, at the Darülaceze Presidency with broad participation. Representing Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Asst. Prof. Nurten Elkin from the Faculty of Health Sciences attended the workshop.

Istanbul Gelisim University has launched the Subsonic Wind Tunnel Project, which features the most advanced specifications among foundation universities. The project was developed through the collaboration of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture’s Department of Aeronautical Engineering and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO). Constructed within the Aerodynamics Research Laboratory, the project was realized through the cooperation between the Department of Aeronautical Engineering and the TTO at Istanbul Gelişim University. The on-campus opening ceremony of the Subsonic Wind Tunnel was held with a speech by Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Ahmet Yağan, a student of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at Istanbul Gelisim University, achieved significant success by winning the bronze medal in the 86 kg freestyle category at the U20 World Championship held in Bulgaria.

An important academic event was organized as part of the project titled "Determining the Effects of Irregular Migration and Residence Permits on Inflation in Türkiye", supported by the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordination Office of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU). The "Symposium on Migration and Economic Impacts", held at the Aziz Sancar Conference Hall of Istanbul Gelisim Vocational School, addressed the relationship between migration and the economy from a multidimensional perspective.

The Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) preference period is of great importance for associate degree graduates as it allows them to elevate their academic journey to the next level, reshape their career plans, and directly influence their future professional positions. This period is not just about calculating scores; it is a strategic stage where candidates must make decisions that align with their long-term goals by understanding themselves better. Clinical Psychologist Beyza Nalan Alçin from Istanbul Gelişim University explained the key points of correct planning during the DGS preference period, focusing on common mistakes made by candidates and how they can maintain their motivation.

With the end of the university preference period, Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) has also concluded its Preference and Promotion Days with a closing ceremony. Throughout the process, IGU welcomed prospective students and their families to its campus and attracted significant interest through comprehensive promotional activities, both academic and social. At the closing program, IGU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli and IGU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli came together with the academics, administrative staff, and student assistants who took part in the preference and promotion process.

As part of its vision to strengthen international academic collaborations, Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) hosted the “Innovation and Technology Conference.” The event was attended by prominent guests including IGU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdulkadir Gayretli, Yemen’s Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Alwisabi, and the Ambassador of Yemen in Ankara, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed Tariq.
